Routes / Canal Club notebook
The two-bank canal walk.
A flexible one-hour route with a different view on the way home.

Out along the quiet bank
Choose any canal with public paths on both sides. Start near a bridge, walk for twenty minutes and keep the water beside you. Stop where the street opens up rather than where a guide says the view is best.
Cross when you feel like it
Use the next public bridge to change banks. Look back at the route you just walked. Buildings that seemed ordinary from close up often become a rhythm of colours and rooflines across the water.
Return without rushing
Allow another twenty minutes for the return, plus time for a stop. This is a route format, not a fixed itinerary: adapt it to daylight, access and your own pace. If a path is closed, stay on public streets.
These are adaptable route ideas, not live navigation. Use public paths, check local conditions and respect cycle signs.
