City life / Canal Club notebook
A Sunday with no shortcuts.
A slower way to see the city: on foot, by the water, without a list.

Leave the headphones at home
The first rule of a slow Sunday is to stop treating the city as something to complete. Choose a stretch of water, walk until a bridge catches your eye, and take the other bank on the way back. The change in perspective is small, but it is enough to notice the details that disappear on a commute.
Take a proper pause
A bench is as useful as a café table. Sit for ten minutes without opening a map. Watch the reflections change as boats move past. Notice how a doorway, a tree and a bicycle together make an ordinary corner feel like a place.
Bring the afternoon home
At the end of the walk, write down one thing you saw instead of saving twenty photographs. A painted window frame, an overheard laugh, the smell of bread from a basement: small memories make a city familiar.
